For more than a decade, CERF+ has been actively building relationships with artists, artisans, and the individuals and institutions that support them in Puerto Rico. The island’s artisans and artists have faced numerous obstacles in recent years, including Hurricane Maria, the earthquakes in 2020, and most recently, the pandemic. In response to these unforeseen emergencies, CERF+ has provided $667,000 in financial relief assistance and donated equipment and materials to more than 300 artists in Puerto Rico.
In 2019, CERF+ received a generous grant from the Flamboyan Arts Fund that provided funding to assist artists and artisans in their recovery and to help them build safer and more resilient careers and studio practices. In addition, CERF+ has also collaborated with the Flamboyan Arts Fund to create a series of videos detailing the stories of artists and artisans who received support from CERF+, illuminating their experiences navigating these difficult times.
