Find Support and Resources

There are several organizational and institutional resources for emergency & disaster relief, recovery, and preparedness. However, it can be difficult to know where to start. Not sure where to seek help? We have compiled a list of relief, recovery, and preparedness resources.

Below you can find a range of resources available for those who reside and work in the U.S., U.S. Territories, and Tribal Nations or Indigenous Communities. To access links, click on the organization's or resource's name.

2-1-1 (Call 211)  Local experts available 24/7 to help with crisis & emergency recovery, housing, caregiving, food, and health. Calls to 211 are confidential and can be anonymous.
FEMA Disaster Recovery Resources Several services offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, including legal services, case management, crisis counseling & mental health services, and unemployment assistance. 
American Red Cross (1-800-RED-CROSS)  Provides financial assistance, shelter, and community services. 
DiasterAssistance.gov Apply for FEMA disaster assistance here. Includes several resources for local recovery help. 
The Salvation Army (1-800-SAL-ARMY) A range of services including rent & housing assistance,  food pantries & hunger relief, medical services, and more. 
Mutual Aid Hub A map of mutual aid organizations in U.S. states. 
NYFA Emergency Resources Centralized directory for immediate help, emergency funding, public assistance, housing, and health & insurance resources. 
National Coalition for Arts Preparedness & Emergency Response (NCAPER) A running list of current disaster and emergency relief resources for individual artists, art organizations, and funders.
Nest’s Responding to Climate Disasters: A Disaster Recovery Guidebook A comprehensive guide to the post-disaster resources available to creative entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Balboa Art Conservation Center (BACC) Several disaster recovery and emergency relief guides, including salvaging artwork from fire and water damage. 
MusiCares Disaster relief, financial assistance, mental health support, and addiction recovery assistance for music industry professionals. 
Entertainment Community Fund's Artists Health Insurance Resource Center Healthcare resources for entertainment professionals, including information about how to negotiate with hospitals to lower medical bills.

Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grants One-time grants for artists in financial need who are experiencing a recent unexpected medical, dental, and/or mental health emergency. 
The Artists’ Fellowship Financial assistance one-time grants for artists and their families in times of sickness, natural disaster, bereavement, or unexpected extreme hardship. 
Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grants  Project-based emergency grants for artists who have insufficient time to seek funding for sudden, unanticipated art projects or who incur unexpected or unbudgeted project expenses close to the project’s completion. 
U.S. Small Business Administration Offers low-interest loans to help businesses (of all sizes), homeowners, renters, and/or private nonprofit organizations recover from declared disasters. 
The Etsy Disaster Relief Fund Financial support for U.S. Etsy sellers who are recovering from recent natural disasters (federally or state declared within the past year). 
Arts Midwest: Arts Funding Finder Searchable directory for arts grants and funders who support art in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin and the Native Nations that share this geography. 
First Peoples Fund Action Grant Financial assistance for individual Native artists and cultural bearers who have experienced an emergency and/or sudden unanticipated, art-related expense. 
Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation Grants  Emergency relief and financial assistance grants for sculptors and printmakers. 
Entertainment Community Fund's Social Services and Emergency Financial Assistance Provides temporary financial assistance to performing arts and entertainment professionals with documented financial need due to unforeseen circumstances.
Sweet Relief Musicians Fund Offers financial assistance to all types of career musicians and music industry workers who are struggling to make ends meet while facing physical or mental health issues, disability, or age-related problems. 
Artists at Risk Connection’s Fellowships  Financial assistance, residency opportunities, legal aid, and advocacy services for artists living in exile.

Ready.gov Includes a quick, disaster communication plan and steps for preparing for flooding, severe weather, wildfires, hurricanes, and power outages. 
dPlan ArtsReady  An online emergency preparedness and response tool for arts and cultural organizations, regardless of size, scope, or discipline.
CERF+ Studio Protector  A self-paced guide is designed to equip craft artists with the necessary tools and resources to formulate a plan to protect their practice (includes information about business insurance, legacy planning, emergency planning, art archiving, studio safety, and more). 
The Salvation Army  Offers disaster preparedness training for community-based organizations and a disaster preparedness guide.  
Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts National directory of volunteer lawyers in 23 U.S. states, which may be helpful for business & legacy planning,
