In Memoriam:  Stacey Jarit, Long Time Trustee + Supporter

Stacey Jarit

All of us at CERF+ mourn the passing of our beloved trustee, supporter and friend, Stacey Jarit who died on October 6th of lung cancer. Over 30 years ago, Stacey and her husband Jeff Sobel founded Artrider, an art and craft show production company, with the goal of creating beautiful shows that put artists first. In the ensuing years, Artrider shows have become known for their large audiences, high quality art and happy exhibitors. It remains a family business which now includes their daughter, Jackie Sobel Hersh and dear friend Laura Kandel.

“To know Stacey was to love Stacey,” says CERF+ Executive Director Cornelia Carey. “Her passing is such a hard loss for our community because she had such a radiant effect on so many people. It’s no wonder that she loved CERF+ as she cared deeply about artists.”

Stacey’s family has just established the “Stacey Fund” through CERF+  in her memory, a new fund to assist artists working in craft disciplines who have been affected by an unforeseen career-threatening illness or who have to put their career on hold to care for loved ones with serious illnesses.
