Linda Essig is Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs for Baruch College-CUNY. She was previously Dean of the College of Arts & Letters at Cal State LA, director of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Programs for the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University and founding director of its School of Theatre and Film. Her research has been published in Artivate: A Journal of Entrepreneurship in the Arts (which she founded), Cultural Trends, Entrepreneurship Research Journal, Journal of Arts Management, Law and Society, Theatre Topics, Stage Directions, Theatre Design and Technology, and elsewhere. She is the author of numerous articles and book chapters on both arts entrepreneurship and lighting design, and including most recently Creative Infrastructures: Artists, Money and Entrepreneurial Action, published in 2022. She has served on the boards of directors of Self Help Graphics & Art in Los Angeles and Rising Youth Theatre in Phoenix, among others. She holds BFA and MFA degrees from NYU and a PhD in Public Administration and Policy from Arizona State University.
