In Boulder County, Colorado, the Marshall Fire was one of two blazes that started Thursday morning. Drought parched lands and strong winds contributed to the rapid acceleration of the fire traveling “down a football field in a matter of seconds,” Gov. Jared Polis said in a Thursday news conference. Since Dec 30, 2021, 6,219 acres have burned destroying more than 991 homes and structures and damaging another 127 structures.
